District 42 St. Lawrence International
A.A. — it works!

The A.A. Preamble

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.  Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help others achieve sobriety.

Many meetings have re-opened subject to various guidelines as determined by their group conscience. It would be reasonable to assume that all groups will have considered any Government and other relevant health authority guidelines in making this decision however as per A.A. Tradition each group is guided by its own group conscience.
As of September 2, we are not aware of any groups meeting, in person, who do not strongly recommend or require the wearing of a mask and social distancing.

We are aware that the St Lawrence County has declared a state of emergency (see this link) and that some college campuses, such as St. Lawrence University in Canton, are reducing student exposure by asking students to remain on campus except for necessary outings (i.e. buying food and medical needs).
We advise ALL A.A. members to be aware of the potential risk of COVID 19 and possible steps they can take to reduce the chance of infection.
If your meeting is re-opening at its physical location please notify the webmaster (webmaster@aa- stlawrenceny.org) so he can update the website accordingly.

Further events will likely require facilities hosting A.A. meetings to close or otherwise restrict public access, per requests and mandates from governmental authorities. We recommend using the telephone and internet to maintain contact with and support for fellow A.A. members. You may also find information on electronic meetings at A.A. Online Intergroup.

District 42 recognizes that each group must make its own decision on whether or not to continue meeting during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In making your decisions, please consider the welfare of your members (and their families)  and the advice from our public health officials.  In addition, your meeting facility has the final say on whether or not your group will continue to use their space.

Should your group decide to suspend meetings please notify the webmaster so we can post notice on this website. Also please call Reachout at 315.268.0120 (the A.A. Hotline number) to let them know.
